Bob Purvey has organized all most every aspect of the Malibu NoseRiding Invitational (MNI) competition and media presentations.  He is the MNI Chief Executive Officer and Event Director, and President of Bob Purvey Productions.  Purvey has numerous awards in a variety of fields.  He won many surfing contests sanctioned by the United States Surfing Association, starting in 1964, and became a world-class competitor.  His claim to fame came at age 18, in 1966, when he won the Morey-Pope Professional Invitational Championship’s “Noseriding” division, and launched his famous noserider surfboard aptly named “The Ugly.”  He retired as a competitior in 1968, but thirteen years later Purvey won Church’s First Annual NoseRiding Championship.  He conceived and organized the 1986 Classic Challenge at Malibu, which was the first pro surfing contest with the format to include longboard freestyle, shortboard freestyle and timed nose riding divisions.  He founded the non-profit EcoMalibu to educate the general public about the efforts to recover and restore the wetland ecosystem in the heart of Malibu and improve water quality in the surfzone and with the highly successful 2012 Lagoon Restoration, neighboring Surfrider is safe to surf again.  Other than producing, Purvey has served as an actor, writer, director, cameraman, graphic artist and editor.  See his full bio at www.bobpurvey.com/biography
